The
VVCAA grew out of the Antique and Classic Club. Some twelve
or so members had four cylinder Chevrolets and other members kept
on suggesting that it was time to "get into something decent",
meaning a better car. What happened was that rather than change
cars, the Chevrolet owners ultimately formed their own club.
They decided to meet as a group, initially in members' backyards.
In May 1967, a run was held in Parramatta Park, followed by a
run to Mulgoa in June.
This was the inaugural Mulgoa run and since then we have celebrated
37Anniversary Runs.
After
ten years there was a week long Anniversary Rally held at Mudgee.
Every five years since then there has been an Anniversary event:
Parkes 1982, Nowra 1987, Cowra 1992, Forbes 1997, and Goulburn
2002.
Over
the years there have been some four and a half thousand members.
At the moment the membership covers over eight hundred, and yes,
several of the originals are still members.
